Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association for Multi-cultural Education

12th Annual Conference

March 26-27, 2010 Indiana University of PA

Call for Presenters
The National Association of Multicultural Education (N.A.M.E.) is a national non-profit organization that was founded in 1990. N.A.M.E. is committed to a philosophy of inclusion that embraces the basic tenets of democracy and cultural pluralism. It also believes that multicultural education promotes equity for all regardless of culture, ethnicity, race, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, belief system or exceptionality.

The Pennsylvania Chapter of NAME is one of the most active in the country and will be hosting our 12th annual conference at picturesque Indiana University of Pennsylvania . The purpose of the PA-NAME conference is to unite individuals from a variety of disciplines, educational levels, and institutions to provide leadership in national and state discussions. These discussions include equity, diversity, and multicultural education. This year’s conference theme is: “A Renewed Multicultural Agenda Toward Achieving an Equitable Society” and will be dedicated to both our own renewal and regeneration in part, but in a greater portion it will be about garnering a new set of tools to sustain and expand the progress made in the last forty years in multicultural education.

The keynote speaker for the conference is William Strickland. Mr. Strickland is the President and CEO of Manchester Bidwell Corporation and its subsidiaries, Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild and the Bidwell Training Center. He is author of the book, Make the Impossible Possible. He is nationally recognized as a visionary leader who authentically delivers educational and cultural opportunities to students and adults within an organizational culture that fosters innovation, creativity, responsibility, and integrity. Mr. Strickland has been honored with numerous prestigious awards including the coveted MacArthur “Genius” award.

We anticipate a wide array of presentations that focus on historical and contemporary tools we use to sustain diversity and how we can push the movement forward into the next generations’ lives. For this reason, PA-NAME invites you to submit a presentation proposal for its annual conference.
